A website dedicated to journalists for training and
educational opportunities has been launched
The website and social networks of Home of journalists are currently available in both
Kurdish and English, and journalists can visit them to be inform about training
opportunities, financial support and educational opportunities, as well as
watching media trainings that contain new information by experienced trainers
presented, as well as getting to know their colleagues in other cities and
towns in Kurdistan.
"Home of Journalists" is an independent online
media website, a home for journalists regardless of gender, religion and
political opinion, and focuses on publishing information and articles that
strengthen the capacity of journalists in the media, and defends press freedom.
Home of journalists was built as part of the Digitization of
Journalism and Expanding Freedom of Expression project, an International
Leadership Visitors Program (IVLP) award, funded by the US Department of State
for Educational and Cultural Affairs in partnership with the Merdian Center as
an implementer.
In November 2022, journalist Qayssar Rahman
participated in the International Leadership Visitors Program in the United
States and won the 2023 IVLP Influence Award.
The award was in support of the project "Digitalization
of Journalism and Expansion of Freedom of Expression" implemented in
Halabja province. The activities consisted of:
- Training for 25
journalists on "Expanding digital media and freedom of expression and how
to prevent Fake news"
- Production of (15) training videos for journalists on
important issues of journalism.
- Creating the website "Home of journalists" which
is currently available in both Kurdish and English.
