The Home of Journalists was built as part of the "Digitization of Journalism and Expanding Freedom of Expression" project, which is an International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) award, funded by the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs with Meridian International Center as the implementing partner.

In November 2022, journalist Qayssar R. Ahmed participated in the International Visitor Leadership Program in the United States and won the 2023 IVLP Impact Award.

The award was in support of the project "Digitization of Journalism and Expanding Freedom of Expression" implemented in Halabja province which the activities consisted of

- Training for 25 journalists on Expanding digital media and freedom of expression and how to recognize false news.

- Producing (15) training videos for journalists on important topics for journalism.

- Creating a website for journalists. which consists of this available website.
